Dr Alfonso Vargas is the principal dentist at Burford Dental. He graduated from the National University of Colombia where he earned his Dental degree in 1997.
Alfonso participated in many outreach programmes, providing dental care to disadvantaged communities including indigenous people in the Amazon area.
He later migrated to New Zealand and received his Dental Registration in 2006. Alfonso has continued to train extensively in different areas of general dentistry, particularly orthodontics [including orthodontic training by Dr John Burford], oral surgery, dental lasers, implants, and more.
He believes in a thoughtful approach to dental practice where each patient is unique and can improve their overall wellbeing with successful and beneficial therapies.
Alfonso is happily married to Lynette whom he met after his arrival in Auckland. They got married twice! Once in New Zealand and also in Puerto Rico. His weekends are devoted to family matters and keeping up with his two active sons. In recovery mode, he watches football [soccer] and basketball.
